daylight savings and these forums

I've changed the messageboards to be set to +9 GMT for the duration of daylight savings, so it'll show the correct time. However, you may find your profile remembers your preference for +8. If the messageboard shows you the wrong time, and you'd like it to be correct, take the following steps:
  • Click the User CP button in the top toolbar.
  • Click to Profile, then click Options.
  • Change Time Offset to GMT/UMC+9 (Japan time). (I don't think the Enable automatic Daylight Savings Time change option works but you're always welcome to try.)
  • Click Save Changes.
Don't forget to change it back to +8 when daylight savings is over. Wink

Try not to think about how changing the time zone affects the times of events that happened before the daylight savings date (e.g. old posts). Huh

Edited:
Edited to reflect changes in the message board since YaBB 2.2.

We had to use that patch for work.. it doesnt fix the calender. You have to change it manually but I doubt anyone uses it anyway.

I've checked your profile. It's still set to +8. Please follow the instructions in the top post of this thread.

Why change the messageboard times to +9 if everyone has to manually change their profile anyway?

Why change the messageboard times? Mainly for new accounts and/or guests. You already have a profile, its preference for +8 overrides the "default" of +9. Log out, for example, and you'll see the correct time.

Daylight savings is back.

Once again I've set the forums to +9 GMT. (You can see this for yourself if you log out.)

However, your account may remember your preference for +8 GMT. Your personal preference overrides the forum defaults. If you'd like to tweak your profile, please see the instructions on the top of this thread.

Daylight savings has ended again. (Possibly for more than a year, this time around.)
