Are you a Na'vi?

So you thought furries and otherkin were weird? Check this out:

Quote:
This is the first community on the internet for Na'vi 'Kin - those who are Na'vi in human form. Be it reincarnated Na'vi, Na'vi on a mental level, or spiritual Na'vi, we have one thing in common - we are Na'vi, truly, in our hearts and at our cores.

That is not a joke. (At least not as far as I can tell... it fits the trope of furries and otherkin to a tee. If it is a parody -- and sometimes it seems a little too comically obtuse -- it is a damned good one.)

Here is the site.

I've not perused the site for long, but in my short browsing so far, it seems there's comedy gold in every direction you might choose to surf. So I'd encourage you to browse around.

This bizarre set of people fascinate me, much like the fundamentalist Christians do, so I may be browsing around for a few days or maybe even weeks. At least as far as I can before encountering yiff. And I'll post anything humourous.

If you're not familiar with the term "otherkin", let Wiki enlighten you:

Quote:
Otherkin are people who identify in some way as non-human. Broadly defined, while otherkin are human in outward form, they beleive themselves to be in spirit are what are generally considered to be mythological or legendary creatures. Some may claim to be able to shift mentally - meaning that they may experience the sense of being in their particular form while not actually changing physically.

...

Common creatures otherkin identify as include angels, demons, dragons, elves, extra-terrestrials, fairies, kitsune, lycanthropes (werewolves), and vampires.

This gets better and better.

Quote:
...my beautiful partner is finally pregnant. We are so overjoyed and happy - we have yet to share the special news with our families and friends. I felt that I should share this wonderful thing with my kith and kin on tothehometree first...

We have sat down and talked about it and we have decided to raise the child according to Na'vi ways. The child will be taught Na'vi philosophy and Na'vi history, Na'vi ideaologies and the Na'vi faith system. My partner does not identify as a Na'kin herself, but she supports me in my feelings and beliefs and as such agrees that this is the correct and right thing to do. I cannot wait to teach our child about Eywa and the beauty of living as one with nature. My partner did put her foot down at the dressing our child in blue clothes and turning down the heating so that their skin has a light blue tinge, however, and on reflection I agree that this was not a good idea. When they are old enough, I will show them the film and show them where I came from and where I lived before living on this planet.

I'm still far from certain, but if I had to bet I'd be saying "clever parody" right now. Real otherkin might want to do this idiotic stuff to a poor child, but not even they would "turn down the heating" to change skin colour. That particular statement looks to me like a little bit of bait on a wire -- designed to hook and reel in comments. On the other hand, it might be a clumsily written joke. Blink

I think you might be right though; the "turning the heat down" may have tipped his hand...

The Na'vi kin site from the original post has become rather dull. Though I am more convinced that the founder is a troll after he staked a seriously-worded claim of copyright over a made-up-word.

From here:

Quote:
Na'vini'ty is a new term, coined by I, Shey'bu - what it is is a word that is not easy to define, indeed it is almost indefinable in that it is a word that means many things and describes an abstract concept and a feeling personal to the individual.

...

Here at this point I would like to emphasize that I am the creator of this term and that it is copyright to me - any uses of it you may find via search engines such as "Google" are illicit and unjust.
I think it would be deliciously amusing if this site were founded by a troll, because it seems almost certain to me that there's at least a few serious Na'vikin who have taken the bait and are now part of the community.

But anyway, the main reason I post is to link this:
