I just heard of this now.

http://mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/products/8547.aspx

Looks pretty cool, could be some great fun, seeing what crazy crap we can get it to do, and the programming side lures me in.

$450 is a pretty high price tag though.

Just putting it out there - but if people were keen, we could all maybe put in for one or something. Just thinking aloud.

To be honest, I'm not much impressed by Mindstorm stuff. They are not very capable robots. Their sensors are dull, their muscles are weak... Obviously it is too much to expect them to do something useful, but I have a hard time imagining even an amusing gimmick they could do.

I could be convinced otherwise. Is there a video of a Mindstorm robot doing something very cool?

I do like interesting programming-releated concepts though. Something like this interests me. Anyone want to take up the challenge?

wow, f' yes, that sounds awesome, I am so up for that.

We could even have simple little competitions between ourselves and stuff. I am well down with that.
