At first, they disabled comments in places where young-earthers and creationists could spout their crazy.

Now it looks like the Fox News website has gone the whole 9 yards. I can’t find an open comments section anywhere, from rag-to-a-bull stories about Obama to innocent articles about tomato basil soup.

What happened? Is it a permanent change?

Truthfully, I don’t know, I haven’t exactly been keeping a close eye on the Fox News commenting system. But my pet theory is that the comments are gone for good. It’s bad PR for crazies to congregate in your comments. Wait. Crazies is too kind a term. Fox News comments were home to the worst kind of racists, Islamophobes and homophobes.

It’s hard to be sure about whether the closure of these comments is, on the balance, good or bad. Either way, to mark the occasion, here are some of the “top” comments to come out of Fox News, courtesy of Fox News Comments.
