The video shows incorporation of two things supplied by the project’s artist Candice. Firstly, a preliminary rover with its animation. Secondly, a bit of sample dialogue that read so well I couldn’t wait to see how it might look in the game itself!
The voice control is not new, though we haven’t seen it in a video for quite a while.
Oh, and don’t worry — the rover’s not going to be able to jump that high. Not, at least, without some upgrades collected during play.
I’m looking forward to implementing code to have the player be able to stand on top of the rover. I’m not so much looking forward to certain “exceptional” things. One thing that’s been bothering me is how to handle the rover driving halfway off an edge? It’s going to look silly with just a back wheel clutching onto a corner of a ledge. I have some ideas, but won’t bore you with them now.
Mainly I’ve been working on the game’s launcher. It’s working now, though at this stage only graphics options are available. Still, it’s nice to be able to select resolution, fullscreen and sampler the nice user-friendly way, rather than fiddling in the guts of a Settings file.
